Security and honesty

Security doesn't seem to be a problem in Japan because of the culture of the Japanese.

For example - women and their handbags. In most countries, women keep a close eye on their handbags and in some counties it is necessary to clutch the handbag very closely at all times. However, in Japan they don't seem to worry.

For example, I often saw women in Japan enter a cafe and leave their handbag on the table or their seat and wander off to look at the buffet etc. They seemed to be confident that it was perfectly safe to do so.
